Management Skills

Level 4 training specifically written for, and delivered by, managers of settings -  all based on 'management by objectives' theory and made relevant (and accessible!) to childcare and playwork settings

Improving Practice Through Evaluation

A two day course focussing on how to carry out meaningful evaluations and how to use the results to develop practice in the setting. Improving Practice Through Evaluation is nationally recognised having been endorsed by SkillsActive.

All You Need to Know About Management - in a Day!

Possibly a slight exageration (!), but this course provides a whistle-stop tour to the most important roles of a manager in a child-centred setting - vision, setting and using aims and objectives, promoting and developing reflective practice, time management, assertiveness and creativity.

Good Recruitment Practice

A one-day course which focusses on the process of recruiting new staff in line with the settings aims and objectives.

Policy Development

This one day course focuses on developing policies which are usable, useful and used - no more dust-gathering and killing trees in the name of policies after this course!

Supervision and Appraisal Skills

Supervision and appraisals often get confused and their purposes misunderstood. This two day course enables participants to set up and use a supervision and appraisal system which is appropriate for their setting.

Leadership Skills

What is leadership and how does it differ from management? This two day course enables managers to develop skills which will help them to lead their teams - not just clear up after them!

Creative Thinking for Managers

This course is for anybody who is fed up with the same old problems turning up again and again and wants to find new ways of looking at things! It involves lots of creative thinking exercises and is a bit 'experimental' in its approach - participants need to come being prepared to play and take (mental) risks!
