FAQs

Here are some of the frequently asked questions from our training clients - hope the answers help and do feel free to add your own queries and we'll post the answers so everyone can share!

Q:  What is the maximum number of people on your courses?

16 people on all courses but 30 on Playmania! Sometimes people ask us for more places but we do limit to 16 as we pride ourselves on the fact that our training courses help participants to develop their practice. This happens because of the way that we deliver our training and engage the participants in reflective practice throughout the course and it is impossible to do this with larger numbers.

We do understand that, as we charge per day and not per person, you will want to make sure that you get maximum value for money by filling all the places and may therefore want to overbook to allow for drop-outs on the day. Drop-out rates tend to vary in different parts of the country so we would ask you to reflect this in your booking processes so that we do not end up with more than 16 on the day - thanks!

Q: What do you charge for expenses?

We can do this two ways depending on how you would like to do it. The vast majority of our training clients choose the 'flat rate' expenses fee which is currently £90 for courses booked in 07/08. Or we can charge 'actuals' once the course has been run.

Q: Any other advantages for training clients we can take make use of?

Yes - every training client gets signed up for a free Playwords subscription for the year in which they are a 'current training client' (see below) and can also benefit from discounted rates on our publications - please contact us for prices as these vary!

Q: What is a 'current year training client'?

Good question - there'll be a test on this one later! Our 'year' runs from October to September - so any courses which have been booked to run during this period counts as 'current year'.

Our training fees are reviewed each September for our 'new year' and the new fees apply from the 1st October. However, prices are agreed at the time of booking and the contract price stands even if the courses run into our 'new year'. In other words, if you do as most of our training clients do and book a year ahead then you get last year's rates by the time we deliver - bargain!

Q: What do you do in the way of quality assurance?

Our trainers only deliver our courses and they are trained to do this in one of two ways - either they attend a T2T session and get to walk through the course content that way, or they observe a 'live' course run by an experienced trainer - we will always ask you first if we're planning for this to happen on one of your courses! We never simply give our trainers the training manuals and tell them to get on with it.

All of our trainers are visited at least once a year per course they deliver by our lead trainer. All the evaluation sheets (and assessments if the course is accredited) get read and issues are followed up with the trainer and the training client where neccessary.

We have achieved the Skillsactive Code of Practice and also have our own Ethical Trading Policy.
